Key findings from IATA's 2019 Annual Review

6 August 2019

A net profit of $14.66 per North American passenger, an 18.5% increase in India’s domestic market, and 1300 new city-pairs: these are just a few of the findings published last week by the International Air Transport Association.

Founded in 1945, IATA represents 290 airlines, and as estimated 82% of global air traffic. Their regular reports and analyses are must-reads for aviation professionals, and this year’s Annual Review is no different.

While the growth of the aviation industry is unmistakable, this review rightfully looks into some of the new challenges facing the industry as a whole. These range from big-picture, like mixed regional financial performances, to highly specific, like unmanned drones causing 1,000-flight cancellations like the one at Gatwick at the end of 2018.
