Steve runs Aviaquest Consultancy, providing consulting and advisory services within the African aviation industry and has partnered with Aviapro Consulting to sell services and solutions and develop these businesses in the Africa region. Steve is passionate about building and transforming the African aviation environment.
Steve Duley is an experienced professional with a background in aerospace defence and aviation. He completed his Bachelor and Master's degrees in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and earned an MBA from Henley Management College. Steve progressed through various companies practising as an engineer, including the National Institute for Aeronautics and Systems Technology, Safair, and Denel's Kentron.
After managing an aircraft and engine maintenance company for a few years, he joined Comair, managing airport operations and subsequently the IT and Information Systems department. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in establishing kulula.com, the first low-cost carrier in South Africa.
Steve went on to join SITA, a global airline and airport software provider as Sales Director for Southern Africa with the EMEA region managing the Sales and Customer Relationships of all aviation sector accounts with significant new business targets. He later joined Sabre Airline Solutions as Sales Director in EMEA, managing the sales and business development in sub-Saharan Africa region and assisted in exceeding regional targets. Steve was active in the airline associations AASA (Airlines Association of Southern Africa) and AFRAA (African Airlines Association), and interfaces with airline C-level executives.
Steve is based in Johannesburg, South Africa, providing a good base to move through Africa. A dual citizen of South Africa, where he was born and schooled, and the United Kingdom, Steve’s international perspective and experience gives him a deep appreciation and understanding of the multi-cultural and diverse requirements in the region.
