How a Middle Eastern Airlines plane gained a passenger mid-flight

27 August 2019

You don't see pictures like this one very often.

The photo was posted by the Instagram page Lebanese Plane Spotters, and shows a crew member cradling a newborn child in a MEA blanket shortly after being delivered midflight. It has since gone viral.

The baby girl was delivered by MEA crew staff over Iraqi airspace on ME435 flight from Doha to Beirut on July 27th, and the aircraft landed briefly in Kuwait to allow the mother and newborn daughter to be taken to a local hospital.

Hats off to the crew for their quick thinking and rememebering their training!

Fun fact: according to the United Nations, a baby born on a flight is a citizen of the country where the airline is registered.
